湄林适合想让孩子上学、看病都离家近的家庭：Prem国际学校在Huay Sai，学费每年约416,000泰铢起，Nakornping医院有800多张病床。如果你每天要进城上班，就别选这里，因为当地没有像样的公共交通。

湄林适合想要国际学校和大型公立医院、又不想住在市区的家庭。如果你每天要进城通勤，就别选这里，因为只有一条主路，也没有像样的公共交通。下面介绍：学校、医院、进城交通、日常生活，以及洪水要注意什么。
Prem国际学校
Prem Tinsulanonda国际学校在Huay Sai，校园约100英亩。学校开设IB课程，从Early Years（2.5至5岁）一直到11至12年级的文凭课程，走读和寄宿学生都收。
2026-2027学年学费，从Early Years每年416,000泰铢到9至12年级814,000泰铢。

进城
湄林的双条车没有公布票价和时刻表，所以多数人用Grab、骑摩托车或开自己的车。红色双条车见双条车指南，Grab见出行指南，摩托车见买或租摩托车。
医院
公立医疗方面，要知道的是Chotana Road上的Nakornping医院。它是一家大型区域医院，有800多张病床，并持有HA中心级认证。总机是053-999000转0。

Bangkok Hospital Chiang Mai有翻译和医疗协调员，为在当地生活的外国人服务；门诊每天8:00–20:00开放，急诊全天开放。Chiangmai Ram Hospital有英语、德语、法语、中文、日语、缅甸语和韩语翻译。

洪水与瀑布关闭
签租约前，问房东这套房子有没有进过水。湄沙河曾漫进附近村庄。
一日游也一样。山洪曾冲过湄沙诺伊瀑布，大雨后公园不止一次关闭湄沙瀑布。开车上山前打电话问公园办公室，关闭期间远离水域。在国家公园发现异常情况，可以打森林保护热线1362。
洪水预警见雨季指南。2月至4月的烟雾，见烧荒季指南和空气质量。
押金与租约
如果房东出租三个或以上单位，租约里规定提前收的租金加押金合计超过三个月租金的条款是违法的。房东自己出租的独栋房子不在此列。把租赁合同指南、押金指南和租房指南放在手边，对照着看合同。

Called a Bolt. App price was 225. From Mae Rim to Old City. Driver who answered the call messaged me saying I need to pay them 700 Bhat for the ride. I said no. They tried a few more times. They canceled and the next driver accepted 225 Bhat. Driver trying to scam me ?

Yes, Bolt has a few sketchy drivers. Report him inside the app

Always happened with me on bolt. Also the cars were not maintained/good condition. Usually the price is cheaper than market rate, so you get shitty service. They pick up, negotiate, sometimes even if you agree, they will never move from their location. Never had problem with grab. They accept and show up promptly without hassling.

Mae Rim to CM is a relatively long ride. So no, likely not a scam. Just a driver for whom that particular trip made no sense. You will often run in to that issue on long ride requests. He's likely not going to get a fare from CM back to Mae Rim so he'll want at least double to cover the ride back he's not getting paid for.

Grab is fine for shorter trips, but their prices for trips longer than a certain (not sure exactly of the cutoff but the discrepancy is very clear) are unreasonable - not market rate. Grab also takes a much larger share of the money than Bolt do. Ask the drivers and they will tell you.

I seriously never had this with Grab. How is this possible with Bolt? Or did I "miss" these scams with Grab? But yes, looks like he was trying to scam you. If the app says price X, then the driver can't change it to Y.

Where can I go in Chiangmai to see elephants. I’m in Mae Rim. I don’t want to bathe them. I don’t want to climb a waterfall or swim. I just want to check them out. All I’ve found are packages / tours to do that- be a caregiver for a day.

Elefin cafe. You can eat lunch or drink coffee while you watch the elephants. Maybe light interaction if they are in the mood. It's on the other side of the mountain from Mae Rim though.

Elephant nature park. You walk with the elephants, but you don't ride, bathe, feed, or even touch them.

We went to Elefin a couple weeks ago, we didn't want all that nonsense either. We rented a scooter, grabbed coffee/tea and a meal there and paid 100thb to feed the elephants some sugar cane and bananas. Really nice grounds to hang out, the elephants seemed to be cared about, though definitely encouraged to interact with the guests and take photos.
