Visa exemption extension (best immigration - short waiting time)
Hi all,
just arrived here 6 days ago on a visa exemption from Germany. I want to extend my visa exemption to 60 days. No other visa entries yet in my passport if that has any meaning.
What do I need for the immigration and where will be the best immigration office due to waiting time. Just read to never do it in Bangkok, because it may take a whole day.
I am heading to Chiang Mai next. After about 2 weeks I am going south and plan to stop for a day or two in Khao Sam Roi Yot.
Would it be best to go to immigration in Chiang Mai or it surrounding areas? Any recommendations?
Thanks

You extend for thirty days only during the last week of your current exemption. You cannot get sixty days.

If you are heading north, there is an immigration office in the every province, why not try Lopburi, sukothai, Lampang - if you get to a provincial office at 8.30 with all your photo copy’s and a passport photo you could be out the door by 9.30.

Chiang Mai is also quite busy but probably better than Bangkok.
I like immigration in Hua Hin - last time it took me 25 minutes until I had the stamp.
Make sure you prepare a copy of TM30, copy of: main page of your passport, recent entry stamp of your passport, visa

Not true - when you can extend depends on the office and offices like Bangkok and Chiang Mai are 30 days (45 days with a tourist visa) - the only requirement is a TM30.

Chiang Mai and go to the Central Festival office, it's usually quicker than the main office. Just make sure you get a copy of a TM30 from your accommodation provider - TM30 is the declaration of a foreigner staying at an address and it's needed for the extension.

US Passport Visa Exemption Extension
My boyfriend and I arrived in Chiang Mai on August 31st on a US passport 30 day visa exemption, and actually got in an awful motorbike accident on Sept 4th. We got very lucky to be alive but have been on bed rest our entire trip which has sucked lol.
We are feeling loads better, healthcare here is top notch (mostly treated at Mcormick hospital) I am getting crowns on my front teeth on the 22nd and then we’re done w dr appointments.
The 24th is my boyfriends birthday so I booked us a trip this weekend to the Phi Phi islands. (23rd-26th).
I *think* I know what I need to do to extend our stay in Thailand but I need advice on the best way to do this. From my understanding I go to an immigration office, bring some documents, fill out some paperwork, and get an extra 30 days.
What documents do I need?
Will I need to find a print shop/photographer?
Will I for sure get approved?
What location in chiang mai is generally less waiting time?
And should I do this before we leave for our trip or after? Our 30 days is up on Sept 29th. We will be getting back to Chiang mai on the 26th.
Thanks for your help!!!

I need to extend my tourist visa. How does it work in Chiang Mai?
I arrived with a 30 day visa exemption, now looking to extend for another 30 days.
Any help greatly appreciated!
1. Am I actually on a tourist visa? I got a visa on arrival, can it be extended?
2. Do i need to prepare anything in advance? Or can i just bring my passport and show up at the immigration office (and get photos taken, form filled out, photocopies etc)?
3. Maybe a silly question, do the forms have English translations? My thai is improving but not quite good enough to read and complete important documents!
4. Do i go to the immigration office near the airport or is somewhere else better?
Thanks again!

Central Festival Mall 2nd floor.
You don't have a visa on arrival (that's a completely different animal), you have a visa exemption stamp and yes you are getting it extended.
You need to verify your TM30 has been filed. If you are staying at a decent hotel, they can give you a printout.
Photos/photocopies can be done at a nearby shop and yes the forms have english.

Try and get as much stuff completed before hand, that way you’re not holding up the line. When you get there, you’ll queue and then there will will be a table with a few staff that go over your papers to make sure you have everything and it’s completed currently. They will help you complete it if not. It’s 5 baht per copy if you need one. They will consolidate your papers/payment/passport and then send you to the immigration desk to hand it over. Then you just wait for them to call you back up.
