|---|---|---|---|
| Broadband Condo | 50Mbps/20Mbps | 12

True Online

3bb sucks since AIS took over I've been using 3bb since 2012. It has been a complete downgrade since. The customer service is bad and technicians have not been the same. They are no longer professionals. Sorry for the rant. For reference, this is in Chiang Mai.

I had the same experience in Chiang Mai ever since AIS took over. Their support is mostly a useless AI bot and when you get to actual support personnel they aren't helpful. It started with getting a new router which resulted in frequent packet loss for almost a year, because of monitoring I was able to show this started with the router but all they would do is replace the device, until I insisted they give me a different model, which worked. Routing has been absolutely horrible, often slow traffic to GitHub and other sites, traffic from 3BB in Chiang Mai to AIS in Chiang Mai goes through Bangkok and back. Peering to certain services in Singapore has degraded to a point where it is just not usable anymore, like > 50% packet loss at peak times. Now on top of this I had a grandfathered in free public IPV4 address that I requested when I signed up for 3BB. AIS promised no changes to existing contracts when they took over 3BB but 5 days ago they took the address from me and now insist I buy a 200 THB addon package for it. I'm going to switch providers now, not sure where yet. I might go with NT Broadband, it is available and they do grant public IPV4 for free and the contract costs the same. Other alternatives for me are TRUE and Sinet, but I had issues with frequent outages last time I used Sinet and they are more expensive than other options.

Best home internet provider in Chiang Mai for working from home? Hi everyone, I’m going to rent a house in Chiang Mai and I work from home, so I need a reliable internet connection for video calls, uploads, and daily work. Which home internet provider would you recommend in Chiang Mai right now? Thanks a lot.

I use 3bb fiber to home combined with a VPN provider.. During thai Prime time congestion to Europe I connect my VPN to Singapore. Because Thailand always has good connection to Singapore and Singapore almost always has good connection to Europe. Thus is bypass the congestion from Thailand-europe.

3bb. hands down. not so happy they got acquired by AIS. The customer service has changed but 3bb still fast and solid.

3BB. never had problems in 12 months. Impressively stable. Internet has never gone down. Never faultered. I've had a few power outtages which has affected wifi of course but that's not 3BB's fault.

3BB in Condo short term. Right a fairly winding road here. Just took a 3 month rental with no Internet. The agent said I can only get a 12 month contract. This seemed excessive, so to check I, took the details of the unplugged router to AIS store. They said that the previous owner left a 576bhat debt on it so that needs clearing. I paid that off and took a new 12 month contract out for ?268 a month. But after half hour they said I need a new box and an need to pay 800 to the installer. So my total is now more or less the same as than the agents figure. What would happen if I just stopped paying after 3 months? Will they have an outstanding debt waiting for me next year, if I want 3BB again? Can I put the box into storage after I leave and plug it back my next condo stay.?

Talk to your condo juristic office and ask if they will run an Ethernet cable to your room. Offer to pay the install and some of their Internet bill. My last condo did that for me. One time I installed a wifi extender in the hall to boost the free lobby wifi to my room. I did that without even asking , hehe, worked well.

Why would you pay the previous tenants debt????? But 12 month contract is standard with any internet provider. This is generally convenient as standard rental contracts are also 12 months. If you are not staying for 12 months then best option was to hotspot from mobile as others mentioned. If you have already signed for 12 months but are staying only 3.. you should be able to speak to the telco about moving your existing plan to your new location when you move (it wont be free, you'll probably get stung for both removal cost from first place and install costs and new place) But, you should absolutely not have paid someone else's debt, that is the most ludicrous thing I have ever heard, I hope you never ever do that again.

Yep, it costs like 500-700thb and sometimes ~2000yhb extra if there is no optic line in the condo.
