(Read this guide in English)

使馆页面指向longstay.tgia.org上参与该计划的泰国保险公司名单。

I have Pacific Cross. I’m a 55M non-smoker, casual drinker and I pay around $1,000 annually for one of their top-tier coverages. The only reason I have it is for something catastrophic, i.e. heart attack, stroke, cancer. Otherwise, as you probably already know, it’s cheap enough here to do most everything else out of pocket. For every year you don’t file a claim, you get a discount when you renew. I bet your premium would be even cheaper than mine if you’re younger and don’t smoke and/or have any preexisting conditions.

I can tell you what insurer to avoid: AXA. After my appendix burst and I after I received emergency surgery at 2 am, AXA denied my claim, alleging that an appendix is a pre-existing condition. I had to pay the $10,000 myself.

Healthcare: international health insurance or Thai health insurance Hello folks, I plan to be in Chiang Mai for 3 months soon. I’m not used to traveling outside of the United States and want to be prepared for any health events while I’m in Thailand. I am in ok health but always seem to have something going on. What health coverage should I get considering the length of time that I’ll be in Thailand and the fact that I do believe I will become ill at least once while in country? Should I get Thai health insurance or international health insurance? Do you have suggestion of specific insurers?

I do not have any insurance and pay everything on my own with Credit Card. Chiang Mai Ram for example offers good service. For example, I had chest pain. Went to RAM without appointment, got a EKG, chest x-ray and dictor's visit. Diagnosed with inflamation of sternum (no heart attack! 👍🙂). Took maybe 2 hours time in total incl. waiting. Total cost incl. medicine for 2 weeks: THB 3'000, ca. USD 90.

Health insurance ?s as an American looking to move to Thailand Hi there! I'm a 27(F) living in the US (US Citizen) planning to go to Thailand on a multiple entry tourist visa and prolong my stay. Basically, I plan to be gone for at least a year abroad and hoping to spend most of that year in Thailand (extending tourist visa, traveling to different countries for short trips, visa runs, etc.). I have a remote job that allows me to work flexibly- and I previously lived in Chiang Mai through my undergrad university program. Would love to hear some experience/advice regarding medical insurance while living abroad as a US citizen. I've done research on World Nomads and plan to purchase on of their insurance plans- but would I also need to keep my current insurance plan going that I have in the US? My job doesn't provide insurance so its something I pay monthly for. Would having just a travel insurance like World Nomad be sufficient enough for medication like Fluoxetine (generic Prozac) and Wellburtin (I take both) and the occasional physical check up/dentist visit? Thank you in advance!

I'm not trying to be rude here, but if you are asking whether travel insurance is going to pay for antidepressants and routine doctor/dentist visits, then my guess is that you haven't even read the travel insurance policy in question. *No* travel insurance pays for things like that. In fact, travel insurance has a terrible reputation in general; even getting reimbursement for a legitimate accident will likely involve an endless runaround. If you want real insurance, look into an option like Cigna Global. But forget about things like medication and routine doctor/dentist visits. You only need insurance for inpatient care.
zrgardne
Cigna, Integra, Aetna. Pre-existing conditions are always a gamble, you will need to call and ask.

Pay for your drugs yourself, Fluoxetine is like 1-2 baht a pill. Same with dental, it’s cheap. Just have normal travel insurance (Digital Nomads) for accidents/unexpected illnesses etc.
Tough_Ambassador3935
How are they at actually paying out claims? Because that's the problem people have with these cheap travel insurance policies. People in this thread are recommending actual insurance companies like Cigna because those actual insurance companies actually pay -- and pay directly to the hospitals -- when you need them to.
