(Mae Wang):ChangChill

Elephant Pride Sanctuary

| Care Pride Elephants,

(Mae Chaem):BEES

(Karen Elephant Experience)

| Elephant Pride |
| Karen Elephant Serenity |
想体验喂食,就选Care for Elephants或Walking with Elephants,或者克伦大象静谧之旅。

Real ethical elephant sanctuary? Hi, I just arrived in Chiang Mai, and an Elephant sanctuary just keep appearing in the recommendations of things to do. However everytime I check the reviews, even the ones with 4.5 stars have bad comments regarding the condition the elephants are living in. So do you know actual Elephant Sanctuary (whether it's in Chiang Mai or somewhere else in Thailand as I'll be traveling quite a lot). I don't want to back ride them, and only want to visit a place that treat them well. However I'm not sure it's compatible with touching them and everything Thank you in advance

Last week we did a trip with Elephant Nature Park based on all the suggestions here. I can’t tell you what an absolutely AMAZING time we had and really appreciated the fact that it was ethical as well. We were able to have limited interactions with the elephants as we helped the handlers cut up one of their many meals and feed it to them as well as walk down with them to the river where they (alone no humans) swam and cooled off. To top it all off, our guide took the best cellphone camera of the group and took Almost 100 National Geographic quality photos to allow us all time to just observe and watch the elephants. The owner of the phone shared the pictures with all of us in the group. It was one of the most memorable travel experiences we have ever had in our almost 40 counties visited.

Ethical elephant places near Chiang Mai Hey guys, can anyone recommend elephant sanctuary places near Chiang Mai which are ethical friendly to the animals? I’ve been having this dilema - I wanna see elephants but at the same time considering if the sanctuaries are actually ethical. Thanks for your opinion!

ENP does not allow bathing or riding. Some of these have crippled feet from years of being chained. Here they are free to roam next to a river and forest.. I think they are in good hands. They also have domestic dog and cat rescue. It's a good place .

Ethical Elephant Sanctuaries in Chiang Mai? Hi all, It seems that Chiang Mai is the home to a tonne of Elephant Sanctuaries so I pencilled that in as the place to go. Whilst researching I found an abundance of options, I didn't realise there were so many. I checked out some reviews and while most have 90% plus positive reviews, almost all have some negative ones that say something along the lines of: 'not a real sanctuary, aggressive and violent mahouts etc'. Does anyone know a really good one that's actually ethical? I'd love to experience an elephant sanctuary, but don't want to do it at the expense of an elephant's happiness. Thanks. Also, second question: is it possible to bath elephants at an actual sanctuary or is this a tourist trap experience where elephants are unhappy. TLDR: There's sooo many elephant sanctuaries in Chaing Mai. Which are the ethical ones?

I found elephant nature park took amazing care of their elephants and I had a great experience there ! You’re not allowed to bath the elephants and you’re only allowed to feed and touch a select few. They also rescue other animals like cats and dogs! I hope this helps : )

Any ‘sanctuary’ that allows you to bathe them is not ethical. Elephants can bathe themselves if they want to. + they don’t need all the baths that tourists give them.
