素贴寺：开放时间、门票与交通
双龙寺（Wat Phra That Doi Suthep）开放时间为6:00–17:00。外国成人门票30泰铢，有缆车上山。从主路上山不收公园门票。100泰铢的公园门票只适用于Pha Lat、Doi Pui等步道。

从主路上到双龙寺（Wat Phra That Doi Suthep，วัดพระธาตุดอยสุเทพ）不收公园门票。这是清迈上方山上的寺庙，开放时间为6:00–17:00。国家公园门票只在走上步道时才收。

国家公园门票是另外的
Pha Lat自然步道和Huai Kaew瀑布等步道、瀑布，在寺庙门票之外另收公园门票。如果交了费，请把收据随身带着。
双龙寺看什么
从阶梯开始，七头蛇神像排列在向上的路两旁。这里约有300级台阶，不想爬可以坐缆车。
到了山顶，金色佛塔是寺庙的中心。传说一头白象把舍利驮上山，在山顶长鸣，然后跪了下来。离开前，走到边上看看清迈的景色。
着装和拍照规定
无袖上衣、露脐装和紧身、暴露的衣服留在酒店。进佛殿或其他建筑前要脱鞋，过门槛要跨过去，不要踩在上面。
不要拍正在祈祷的人，也不要和佛像自拍。脚不要朝着佛像或僧侣，在殿内保持安静。
双龙寺适合谁（谁可以跳过）
适合早起的人，因为6:00就开门，也适合开车或骑车上主路的人，那条路不收公园门票。徒步的人可以加上Pha Lat步道，那里要收公园门票。
如果没有车，下一站Bhubing Palace可以跳过，因为那里没有公共交通。

红色双条车
大多数游客都坐这个。上车前先谈好价格：不走市区线路时按距离收费，可以讲价。市区线路的票价另有页面：看红色双条车指南和出行指南。
Grab、汽车或摩托车
Grab在清迈有GrabCar，可以付现金或刷卡。要自己开车，可以在Khruba Sriwichai纪念像或清迈动物园租车，那里离寺庙约10公里，然后沿Huai Kaew路经过大学和动物园。这条路爬升11公里，自行车、摩托车和汽车都可以停在寺庙。骑两轮的话，先看摩托车租赁指南。
阶梯还是缆车
最后一段，可以走那伽阶梯，或者坐6:00–18:00运行的缆车。
什么时候去、玩多久
烟霾季出发前，先查当天的空气质量，再决定要不要花钱坐车上山。详情看烧山季指南。
如果去得晚，记住寺庙17:00关门，缆车18:00停运。错过缆车，就只能走阶梯下山。
卫塞节是一年中最忙的时候：有队伍步行上寺庙，数万人参加。
附近和怎么顺路玩
Bhubing Palace离寺庙约4公里，没有公共交通，所以自己带车，或者从寺庙正门叫出租车。
Wat Pha Lat在同一条主路上，从那边来的游客不收公园门票。回到市区，古城里还有两座寺庙：Wat Chedi Luang和Wat Phra Singh。
出发前
寺庙门票按30泰铢准备，如果坐缆车再加车费。穿能遮住肩膀和膝盖的衣服，做好脱鞋的准备。17:00之前到寺庙。

Doi suthep worth it? I’ll be in Chiang Mai for about 4.5 days. My plan already includes: • 1 day at an elephant sanctuary • 1 day trip to Chiang Rai • 1 day trip to Doi Inthanon (all through tours) For the remaining time, should I visit Doi Suthep or spend the day exploring Chiang Mai city itself or do cafe hopping /niman? Which option would be more worthwhile? Any suggestions?

Just a couple of hours tbh. You only need to stay at the temple for maybe an hr or so max walking around and seeing the view of the city. If you want you can go further up the mountain to the Hmong village and spend an hr or two there, it's quite a nice experience and there are a couple of good food stalls up there.

Your plan for a 4.5 day stay in Chiang Mai is to spend 3 days elsewhere? I would reduce the elephant sanctuary trip to half a day. Definitely skip Chiang Rai, it's a long ride to another city when you don't have enough time to enjoy the attractions in Chiang Mai as is. Doi Inthanon could be fun but I would be hesitant to go in the coldest months due to local crowds. Doi Suthep is easy to visit if you decide you have the time, no need to book anything in advance. I suggest spending time in Chiang Mai itself.

You got enough people telling you stuff already, but I did want to comment on the Chiang Rai idea. There are some things there that are really worth visiting... But be aware that you will spend at least 6 and more likely 8 hours in a van driving up and down

Agree......did the Chiang Rai temple tour earlier this year......lots of driving!! Lots. Next time I would spend a couple of days in Chiang Rai.

600 baht round trip all day with a red truck driver. Do it all day everyday.

Do not under any circumstances ride a scooter up there. You have a little experience riding one but riding one up a mountain is a whole different story. The main problem isn't you, it's all the other idiots on the road who drive like maniacs up and down those switchbacks. I went up there several times when I lived in Chiang Mai and every single time I saw wrecked scooters and people smeared across the pavement. It's not worth it. Same thing for cycling, it's not safe due to the other drivers. Your best bet is to talk to a local and find a driver to take you around for the day. I lived there for 5 years and worked with all Thai people so it was easy to find a driver who would do it for less than 1000 baht, but this was a while ago and I don't know your situation. Figure anything under 2000 is probably worth it.
