Review :  Pang-Aung national park is located in the region of Mea-hong-sorn about an hour away from the main town Pai. It used to be called Raumthai village and is now part of the royal project to protect local hill tribes homes and unique culture by being destroyed by commercialism and development. They only allow 80 tents in the park per night and home stays are very limited. Also don't expect too many home comforts in this little town as there is not even electricity, however this just adds to the charm.  Hill tribes go about their everyday lives here and when you visit you have to respect their home. I think this is the best thing about this place ensuring Thailand’s famous hill tribe cultures live on!

Here are telephone numbers for Guesthouses in the village.

1. Guest houses and tents : call (053) 692056
2.
Raum Thai Guest house : call (053) 611244

* Thanks to my friend Khing for photos and information.

When is the best time to go : It’s very nice all year round but the best time would probably be say around December- January as it will be nice and cool in this period.

How to get there : There are tours and buses going to Pai everyday and  are not expensive at all.
