  (18/May/2008) Doi Inthanon

Review : This is the highest mountain in Thailand towering 2,599 metres above sea level. The Doi Inthanon national park covers approximately  500 square kilometres including  3 towns which are Jom-tong, Sun-pa-tong and Mea-jam all in Chiang mai province. Doi Inthanon is approximately 106km from Chiangmai city and the road on the mountain is quite steep so you will have to make sure that your car is in good condition to get up there. If you don't have a car you can get a taxi or the red car service which runs specific trips to the summit. There are so many places to go such as :

- Mea Ya waterfall : (the biggest, most impressive water fall I’ve ever seen). It is 70 km from Chiang Mai city centre located in Aumphur Jom-tong. With the 280metres high cliffs - this water fall is so beautiful.

- Wachirathan waterfall : This water fall is 750metres above sea level and  the walk is approximately about 351 metres from the car park.

- MeaKlang waterfall : This is the most famous waterfall in Chiang mai. Located in Jomtong(about 66km. from Chiang mai city) you can have a picnic lunch and have a swim here too!

When is the best time to get there : All year round but the waterfalls are most spectacular in the rainy season.

How to get there : There are tours and red car service to go there everyday or you can hire a car or a mini van with a driver.
